Nice little place in Nebraska...

Only $69,900.

http://www.advantagelandandrealty.co...&listingID=255

It is in a town of 150 people according to someone on another forum who went and inspected the place.

It is in Holt County, roughly 11,500 people amongst 2400 square miles...

We personally have a deathly fear of snow....

But buying a place like that in a small town with enough land to grow stuff on would be sorely tempting.....

FYI, the person who inspected the house said the only issue he found was a basement wall had a bulge inwards of about 1''....

Nebraska has a temperate climate....I suspect it is a water issue, requiring the structure to be lifted for repairs..The cost should be 15k plus, IMHO.....

Sand Hills area is tempting, but the property taxes are high. The Ozarks have reasonably priced houses, more rain, not as cold, and the taxes won't eat you alive.

Any jobs available in that town of 150?

In MO your land taxes might not be too bad, but they tax you on every thing else you own, like goats, sheep cows, pigs, horses ect.
I moved to MO from UTAH. I worked outside in 3 ft of snow all winter in Utah. I had never been so cold as when I spent 4 miserable years in Mizzery!

Nice place, they are out there for the taking if you can get the right location.
I ran across this link for properties up in the Northwest:

It is amazing how once you get away from the "status" and celebrity areas that you can find some decent properties. I would also look in Southern Missouri. Water, Water, Water. That is what is necessary!
